get a load ‘a this guy!
My younger son Tony is taking an online English course through his university this summer. He says the prof has the class “in a very cumbersome world of belief and spirtual readings now.” (Tony’s words. I hope the prof isn’t reading this!) But he was sure I would be interested in one of the assigned readings so he sent me the link.
The piece is by a certain Mark Morford, a columnist for SFGate, an online publication. What a mouth! After I read the piece Tony sent, I went online and read a whole bunch of his stuff. No shyness on his part. The guy is bold, and doesn’t seem to mind insulting anyone.
The crazy thing is the assignment - “Does Your Religion Dance?” - the essay Tony sent me is great. It says a lot of the same things I have been trying to say here in this blog, but in a way I would never in a million years have thought to say it! At least I believe Mr. Morford sees the problem of religion in this country very much the way I do. The “dancing” religion he speaks of is the religion of the Mystic. I wonder if he knows he has Mystic sensibilities? I suppose he does. He teaches Yoga apparently. Not that that means anything but to put together both concepts - his position on religion in this country and the fact that he teaches Yoga, I am betting he is a Mystic.
Please read “Does Your Religion Dance.” (link appears below) Then let me know what you think.
Thank!
