ESSENCE OF THE GODDESS by Vicky M. Semones
My women’s group, The Daughters of EOS, was on it’s annual getaway, this one at Sea Ranch. We were six that weekend, settling into an afternoon stroll along the high path above the rocks, curving toward the shore. My partner walked ahead, and beckoned me to join the dialogue with our friends Patti & Shelli. Not wanting to rush, I demurred and reassured her that I was fine.
Beth paired with Spring in a deep conversation about self-described ‘important things.= As I strolled past them, Beth said, “I’ll see you back home.” “How odd,” I thought. We were staying in a lovely rented house, but it certainly wasn’t ‘Home.’ Or, was it?
Comforted by a familiarity that I could not name, I settled between the trio and the pair. The ocean soothed us with her distant voice and refreshed the air with her constant breath.
Thus, unattached - yet held - I felt vulnerable, unhidden, as if suspended between realities. Then in a moment of absolute clarity, I elevated my inner thoughts toward You in a whisper, “Please, I’m ready for something more.” Not a heartbeat elapsed as my declaration, my plea, arced upward and Your answer returned through a crystal prism, catching the edge of my breath. A smile filled my entire being, infusing me with such fineness that I knew You were there.
Opened and filled, I know the quietude of Your awesome grace, and I smile.
Comment from MPJ: This one is almost a poem. But I believe it is another example of a “state change.” It is from the same author as the prior story, “Dancing With the Goddess.” See my comment on that story for an explanation of state changes.
